The Bite of 1983, a tragic event considered to be a crucial turning point for one of the protagonist, Michael Afton. This incident was shown to have occurred during Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 – Night 5 minigame, the victim being the youngest member of the Afton family: Evan Afton. Or rather, The Crying Child.
Not to be mistaken for the Bite of 87′, this event is one of the few chronological moments seen in the series. Throughout the fourth game in the franchise, the protagonist and the player go through his memories, offering glimpses into what goes on behind closed doors with the Afton family. Some say there is symbolism in this as it’s important to note, Evan is a child and in the eyes of the child, the world is terrifying.
Nonetheless, the Bite of 83′ has unfolded due to Evan’s older brother, Michael Afton, and his gang, who wanting to terrorize Evan the most on his birthday. They go as far as taunting him with getting him close to the animatronic Fredbear, who was performing on stage. The farther the scene progresses, Michael’s gang forcefully carries Evan to the stage and gets his head shoved all the way inside Fredbear’s mouth.
It’s theorized that the tears of the boy had caused the springlocks in Fredbear’s head to loosen, malfunction and come lose around his head.
Unfortunately, this results in the animatronics’ mouth shutting down on the boy’s head, ultimately killing him.
